The world need for this mineral has increased significantly, as well as supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilized throughout a bunch of applications from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for use at home. This specific mineral is actually a critical raw material in the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and many refrigerants.This increased demand coupled with shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double over the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to continue in the near future.
